Poster Design

Graphic designers have been an essential tool for business owners for decades. One of the most effective uses of graphic design is in poster design. Posters are a great marketing strategy, especially for businesses with a tight budget, due to their affordability, versatility, and local impact. Posters come in many different sizes and materials, making them accessible to any business' budget. They are also very versatile, enabling graphic designers to bring the business owner's visions to life. Finally, posters have significant local impact and brand exposure because of the nature of their placement.
The creative process of the poster requires many different skills. From the rough drafts to the final design, a lot of work goes into it. The first step to creating a professional poster is brainstorming. This step can be done on pen and paper or in design software. Brainstorming is about getting every idea onto a medium to look at. This helps the designer determine organization, visual hierarchy, and graphic usage. After brainstorming, the next step is creating a document in Adobe Illustrator. The client's specifications determine the size of the document. After making the document, it is time to start designing the rough draft. The rough draft doesn't have to be perfect, hence the name, but it is about organizing the design as close to the final product as possible. The graphics are generally just representations during this phase, and the fonts still need to be finalized. Still, the layout of the design is what matters.
Once the rough draft is finished, it is time to start polishing the design. During this stage, I determine the final color palette, fonts, and sizes and finalize the graphics I drew. Throughout this stage, getting feedback on your design is essential, catching the mistakes you missed and ideas that didn't turn out.
You can send it out to the client at this point, but the design may not be finished. The client gets the final say on the design, and they may request changes or multiple iterations for comparison.
